232. Money (2)
A person should be a warrior who conquers his inclinations, and money should be worth anything in comparison to performing the will of the Creator. He should use his money to do the will of his Father in heaven, and believe with the full belief that should be fixed in his heart with immovable nails, that his food is decided in heaven, and even if the heavens would rise and the depths descend they would be unable to add or remove one penny from his income. This is besides for the expenses for those commandments and good deeds which are not fixed about which it is said that if one adds, Hashem adds to him. Therefore, there are those who can acquire their world to come through their money, for one who increases in giving charity, increases good deeds and commandments and receives a good name for himself, acquires learning Torah for himself, and will acquire life in the next world. In order to keep the Torah and perform good deeds one needs money, and money answers everything. One who is wise will keep these things, and will not fall asleep. “The end of the matter, all having been heard: fear God, and keep His commandments; for this is the whole man.”
