A person should also consider how much honor and greatness has been done to man whose honor a king has wished for and who the king has raised when poverty-stricken person from the earth and wished that he should serve in front of him. Such a person’s heart should be happy and his honor should rejoice and all of the people should say “How fortunate is he and how fortunate is his lot that he has merited such a great honor!”, and even though at the end of the day this king is only flesh and blood like the man himself who today is here and tomorrow will be in the grave. How many times more must a man who has been chosen by the King of the world, whose hosts are innumerable who has angels and heavenly beings standing around Him, whose greatness has no limits or ends, and this person has been chosen and picked out by Him to serve in front of Him and to bless using His Name and to speak to Him “face to face” at any time which is something which even the heavenly serving angels do not have the right to do, and He “enjoys” Himself with us and has great pleasure in our deeds, how much more must we be happy! And we must remember that all of this is true even though as a matter of fact Hashem does not need us at all, and on the contrary, because Hashem wanted to give Klal Yisrael a lot of merits He gave them much Torah and many commandments in order to give them much reward for all of their effort and it is truly impossible not to rejoice about such a matter.
The disciples of the Ar”I Zal already wrote that when a person says (in Uva Letzion) “Blessed is our G-d who created us to honor Him and separated us from those who stray and gave us the Torah of truth…”, and also when we say “It is incumbent upon us to praise the Master of everything… that He did not make us like the nations of the lands…”, every member of Klal Yisrael should rejoice with a tremendous happiness. In the same way when he says “Who chose us from amongst all the nations and gave us His Torah!” and when he says “Who sanctified us with His commandments” or any other similar thing which they instituted in the wording of the prayers and blessings where if one would think profoundly about them to try and understand and appreciate fully how much goodness, honor and greatness our Father in heaven has done for us, one’s heart will rejoice and one’s honor will be happy for every statement.
