Derech Hashem, Part 4, Ch. 2 – 45

It is obvious that the greater a person’s understanding of the Torah he learns, the greater will be the blessing he receives from it, A person who understands only the meaning of the words of the verses he learns, cannot be compared to someone who understands their intention. Similarly, someone who understands the simple meaning of the verses cannot be compared to someone who understands their deeper meaning. Out of Hashem’s endless kindness, even if a person just reads verses without understanding them, he will be connected to some degree to the tremendous blessing of the Torah. Thus, all Jews can connect themselves to this blessing, each to his own degree.

“And the utterly undoubtable truth is that if the entire world, from one end to the other, would be absent of our engagement and delving into the Torah, even for one moment, literally, then all the worlds - both upper and lower - would be destroyed instantly, and would turn into utter chaos, chas v’shalom…” (Nefesh Hachaim)
