Hilchos Tevilas Keilim – 21

  1. When immersing a utensil, one must completely submerge it at once, together with all its attached parts. This includes even those parts that do not come into contact with the food; for instance, pot handles must be submerged together with the rest of the utensil and they may not be left out of the water. (Shulchan Aruch 120:12)

2.    Even if those other parts are made of materials that on their own do not require immersion, they must nevertheless be immersed together with the utensil to which they are attached. Thus, a metal pot that has plastic handles must be completely submerged, including the handles. (Darkei Teshuvah, ad loc.)
