- Yichud is defined as: “The presence of a man and woman together in a secluded area where a stranger is not likely to disturb them.” This includes places such as a closed room, empty park, a car on a desolate road at night, or any other similar situation.
- The prohibition rests equally on both the man and the woman. Therefore, even if one of them is not aware that he or she is in a forbidden place [such as he or she does not know that the door is locked], the other person is nevertheless obligated to refrain from the yichud situation.
