Honoring Parents – 14

  1. A person who wounds his father or mother and causes them to bleed even one drop, is liable for death. Therefore, if a thorn entered his father, the son should not be the one to remove it, lest he cuse his father to bleed. Nor should he be the one to operate on his father. In all such cases he should appoint someone else to perform the procedure (Shulchan Aruch, YD 241:3).

2.       If no one else is available to do it, and the father or mother are suffering, the son is allowed to treat them as necessary and to the extent that they give him permission (ibid.).

The wise man says: I shall learn two halachot today, and two tomorrow, until I learn the entire Torah entirely… (Vayikra Rabba)
