Introduction / Curses (25)

  1. The verse, Cursed is he who strikes his fellow in secret, applies to one who speaks lashon hara.
  2. The verse, Cursed is he who causes the blind to stumble on their way, also applies to him. This curse refers to one who one who causes his friend to sin. This can apply both to the speaker and the listener, as mentioned above (Nagative Commandment, D)].
  3. One who totally ignores this sin, is included in the curse, Cursed is he who does not uphold the words of this Torah to do them. This verse is intended for one who has total disregard for one of the laws of the Torah, and he is classified as, a rebel with regard to one sin.

One who speaks lashon hara about one’s parents, is included in the curse, Cursed is he who degrades his father and mother.

“Who is the man who desires life… guard your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceitfully” (Tehillim 34:13-14)
