One who speaks loshon hara about an older brother, a step-parent, or a father or mother, violates the commandment, honor your father and your mother, as all of the above mentioned are included in this commandment. One who speaks lashon hara about his biological parents also transgresses, cursed is he who degrades his father and mother. (In both cases, the listener too has likely violated these commandments – even when not said in their presence.)
