ד׳ בתמוז ה׳תשפ״א
- A person who put food in his mouth and forgot to recite the blessing first, and the food is not in a repulsive state [i.e. it was not chewed yet], should remove it from his mouth and recite the blessing. Since Scripture writes, My mouth was filled with Your praise (Tehillim71:8), it is proper that one’s mouth indeed be full with only the praise of Hashem and therefore nothing else should be in the mouth at the time of reciting the blessing (Shulchan Aruch, OC 171 with Mishnah Berurah).
2. But if the food will be in a repulsive state once removed from the person’s mouth, then he should push the food to the sides of his mouth and recite the blessing (ibid.).
