Laws of Blessings – 12

  1. Bircas Hamazon(Grace after Meals) should be recited while seated. Even if the person ate his meal while standing or reclining, he must sit upright for Bircas Hamazon. [This is because it is hard to concentrate while standing and reclining is a haughty posture]. One should sit even for the fourth blessing which is of Rabbinic origin. (Shulchan Aruch OC 183 with Mishnah Berura)

2.    After the fact, if one recited Bircas Hamazon while standing or while walking, he did discharge his obligation; [that is, the person was walking in a single room, but if he walked to a different location altogether, some authorities maintain that he did not fulfill his obligation]. (ibid.)

The wise man says: I shall learn two halachot today, and two tomorrow, until I learn the entire Torah entirely… (Vayikra Rabba)
