כ״ה בטבת ה׳תש״פ
- A person who finished eating bread but did not eat enough to feel sated in the first place does not have an easy gauge to know whether digestion has concluded [since he does not have the indication mentioned earlier of the onset of hunger]. Such a person should ideally eat another olive-sized bit of bread and then reciteBircas Hamazon. [As for reciting a new Hamotzie blessing before eating this extra bit of bread — if he had intended to eat more bread then no first-blessing is necessary, but if he had no such intention, he should recite a new Hamotzie blessing.] (Shulchan Aruch OC 184 with Mishnah Berura).
2. If this person does not have any more bread to eat — if it is within seventy-two minutes from his meal, he may still recite Bircas Hamazon, but after this time, he may no longer do so. (ibid.)
