Laws of Blessings – 29

  1. It is forbidden to engage in any task while reciting Bircas Hamazonbecause it appears that one is only reciting the blessing in some happenstance manner. Even a trivial activity is forbidden while blessing, and all the more so if it is an activity that requires attention. It is even forbidden to think Torah thoughts while reciting Bircas Hamazon (Mishnah Berura OC 188)

2.     The same applies to all other blessings and prayers as well — one may not engage in any other activity at that time. There is no difference between when one began the activity first or when he began the reciting the blessing first. (ibid.)

The wise man says: I shall learn two halachot today, and two tomorrow, until I learn the entire Torah entirely… (Vayikra Rabba)
