Laws of Blessings – 36

  1. Although one should not pause (even silently) between reciting the blessing and eating the food, nevertheless if the pause is for the sake of eating, it is not considered an interruption. Therefore, one who has a whole fruit and wishes to cut a slice of it to eat, should recite the blessing while the fruit is still whole and then cut it. In this case, the act of slicing is not considered an interruption(Kaf HaChaim206).

2.    One should not recite a blessing on a food item that is extremely hot or extremely cold, because he might have to pause between the blessing and the eating (Mishnah Berurah and Kaf HaChaim ibid.).

The wise man says: I shall learn two halachot today, and two tomorrow, until I learn the entire Torah entirely… (Vayikra Rabba)
