Laws of Blessings – 43

  1. Any food that contains one of the five types of grain [wheat, barley, spelt, oats, and rye] — even if it is a minority among the other ingredients — the blessing recited is בוראמיני מזונות, “Who creates species of nourishment,” because the grain is more important than the other ingredients and is considered the main ingredient (Shulchan Aruch and Mishnah Berurah 208).

2.     However, if the grain ingredient was not included in the food for its flavor or to make the food more filling, but only as a binder for adhesion or to thicken the consistency of the food, then it is inconsequential in the recipe (ibid.).

The wise man says: I shall learn two halachot today, and two tomorrow, until I learn the entire Torah entirely… (Vayikra Rabba)
