Laws of Blessings – 55

  1. A person who drank hot tea or coffee, which usually takes longer than the time it takes “to eat half a loaf” [2-9 minutes] — some say that the after-blessing is recited since this is the normal time it takes to drink a hot beverage; others maintain that an after-blessing is not recited since the person did not drink it within the proper time-frame (Mishnah Berurah210).

2.     One who wishes to be strict about drinking a hot beverage should leave a revi’is of the drink in his cup, and when it cools down he should drink it at once, which will enable him to recite the after-blessing according to all opinion. It is proper to do so (ibid.).

The wise man says: I shall learn two halachot today, and two tomorrow, until I learn the entire Torah entirely… (Vayikra Rabba)
