- A person who ate half a kazayis of a food whose after-blessing is “for the tree” and half a kazayisof something that is a “for the nourishment” type food — such as a date and cake, and each on its own was not the volume of a kazayis — recites one blessing of Borei nefashos (“Who creates many souls…”) for them both (Kitzur Shulchan Aruch 51; Kaf HaChaim 210).
2. One who ate half a kazayis of a Mezonos food and half a kazayis of a Hamotzie food — such as cake and bread — recites the after-blessing of Al Hamichya, “for the nourishment” (ibid.).
