- The authorization to speak lashon hara about another who has committed a misdeed is only if the speaker himself is not guilty of this same misdeed. If the speaker himself commits these same deeds – he is forbidden to speak about how another has committed these misdeeds as his intention in doing so is definitely not constructive but to shame his fellow.
4. Even when there is a constructive purpose, the authorization is only when the listeners can help the victim, will know to distance themselves from the subject, or to help the sinner himself – for when he hears how others condemn his action, he will repent. If not for one of the above, it is forbidden to speak lashon hara.
