11. The heads of a committee, or anyone else in a similar position, who is present when the fate of a candidate is being decided, and the candidate is rejected, it is forbidden for one of the members of the committee to say to the candidate: “I wanted you, but I was outvoted”. Even if they didn’t decide explicitly not to repeat anything to the candidate, it is forbidden. In addition, even if this will anger the candidate or he might come to curse him, it is still forbidden.

 

“Who is the man who desires life… guard your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceitfully” (Tehillim 34:13-14)
