Laws of Lashon Hara / 8: 5-7 – 65
- It is permitted to speak lashon hara about a heretic – one who denies the Torah or the prophesies of Israel, or even one law or one verse that is derived from the Torah through the principles transmitted at Sinai.
- This condition applies only when the speaker personally heard him make heretical statements, or, he is known in the city to be in the category of a heretic. However, if this is based only on hearsay, he cannot rely on it but only be concerned regarding it.
7. It is permitted to speak lashon hara about one who is known to be wicked, when there is no doubt to one’s wickedness based on consistent reports throughout the city that he transgresses well-known laws.
