Laws of Rechilus / 1: 10-11 (86)

  1. It is forbidden to speak rechilus in a ‘deceptive way’. For example, if Reuven is aware of what Shimon said against him and they have already quarreled over it – it is forbidden to casually mention the incident to Reuven in order to reignite the feud, even when not mentioning Shimon’s name

11. The prohibition of rechilus includes both the spoken and written word. Whether mentioning something that the culprit did to harm the person himself or whether to harm his merchandise or possessions, as this stirs hatred in his heart.

“Who is the man who desires life… guard your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceitfully” (Tehillim 34:13-14)
