Another that can be learned from the verse, ‘One thing I asked from Hashem, that I will request, to sit in the house of Hashem all the days of my life, to gaze at the pleasantness of Hashem and to visit his chamber’, that when a person has some time sometimes and he can’t learn where he is, he should not be embarrassed to get up and go the Beis Medrash to learn. The Shulchan Aruch states clearly at the very beginning that a person should not be embarrassed of people making fun of him in his service of Hashem. Furthermore, the Torah calls the Jewish people ‘my slaves’, as the verse says, ‘for the Jewish People are slaves to me’, and just like a slave is not embarrassed of his master, so a Jew should be proud to be the slave of the divine King of kings, and should do His service happily. We can learn this especially from Dovid Hamelech, for he surely had plenty of quiet rooms to sit and learn, and yet he yearned to sit in the ‘house of Hashem’ to learn in the Beis Medrash, because there is much more success in learning there, as our Sages said, ‘whoever learns in the Beis Medrash will not forget what he learns quickly’.
