The Laws of Mentioning and Asking for Rain (4)

1) The rules for one who forgot to say “Vesein Tal Umatar Livrachah” in the Amidah from the date when one is obligated to say it are as follows: a) If he remembered before the end of the blessing he repeats “Vesein Tal Umatar Livrachah” and then finishes the blessing as usual. b) If he remembered after the words “Baruch Attah Hashem” he should finish off by saying the words “Lamdeini Chukecha” and then repeat from the beginning of the blessing. c) If he remembered after the end of the blessing but before he had commenced the next blessing, some say that he should say “Vesein Tal Umatar Livrachah” immediately and then continue with the next blessing. (Kaf Hachaim). Others say that he should continue praying and say it on the blessing of “Shome’a tefilah”. (Kitzur Shulchan Aruch and Mishne Berurah). If he has already commenced the next blessing, everyone agrees that he should say “Vesein Tal Umatar Livrachah” in the blessing of “Shome’a tefilah”. (Shulchan Aruch and Mishne Berurah 117)

2) Continuation] d) If he forgot to say it in “Shome’a tefilah”. but remembered after saying the words “Baruch Attah Hashem” before saying the words “Shome’a tefilah”, he should say “Lamdeini Chukecha” repeat “Vesein Tal Umatar Livrachah” and then finish the blessing as usual. e) If he rememebered after finishing “Shome’a tefilah” before starting the next blessing, he should immediately say “Vesein Tal Umatar Livrachah” and then commence the next blessing. f) If he started “Retzeih” and then remembered that he had omitted “Vesein Tal Umatar Livrachah”, he must repeat the Amidah from the blessing of “Bareich Aleinu” and onwards as usual. g) If he remembered after he had completely finished the Amidah, he must recommence the entire Amidah.
