The Laws of Prayer (The morning services) (20)

1) When praying the Amidah, one is obligated to stand, and one may not lean on anything (even a table, lectern or similar object). The reasons for this are: 1) Since one who leans is considered like one who is sitting, and not like one who us standing. According to this reason leaning in such a light fashion that when the supporting object would be removed he would not fall, would be permitted. 2) Since prayer must be with awe. According to this reason, any leaning is forbidden. In times of difficulty, one may rely on the first reason and lean in a light fashion. (Shulchan Aruch and Mishne Berurah 94)
2) The same applies in any place where one must stand. An example of this is when he sees a Torah scroll in front of him, when he must stand and not lean. (ibid)

The wise man says: I shall learn two halachot today, and two tomorrow, until I learn the entire Torah entirely… (Vayikra Rabba)
