The Laws of The Beginning of the Month (11) Ya’aleh Veyavo

1)    One who is reciting the Grace after meals on Rosh Chodesh and forgot to say Ya’aleh Veyav, if he remembers after he has finished saying the ending of the blessing “Boneh Yerushalayim” and before he has commenced the blessing of “Hatov vehameitiv”, he should say the blessing which translated reads “Blessed is He who gave the beginning of the months to His nation Yisrael as a remembrance!” (Shulchan Aruch 424)

2)    Some say that when saying this additional blessing one should say it with the Name and kingship of Hashem (saying Hashem Elokeinu) (Mishne Berurah ibid and 188:25), whereas others maintain that one should not (Kaf Hachaim 188:31).

The wise man says: I shall learn two halachot today, and two tomorrow, until I learn the entire Torah entirely… (Vayikra Rabba)
