1) The Ashkenazi custom is not to eat meat (even poultry) from the first day of Av. One does not even eat food which has been cooked together with meat or chicken. (One may cook parev food in a meaty pot.) One also does not drink wine or grape juice. (Shulchan Aruch and Mishne Berurah 551)
2) Even according to the custom of the Sephardim some do not eat meat or drink wine from the beginning of Av. On Rosh Chodesh Av, however, they are permitted to drink wine and eat meat. (Ben Ish Chai Devarim, Or Letzion 3,26)
