The Laws of Yom Kippur (2-3)
The Laws of Yom Kippur (2)
1) All of the viduys must be recited while standing, and it is good to bend over during their recital like when saying “Modim”. One may not lean on anything in a way that if the supporting object were to be removed that he would fall. One must remain standing until after the words “Al Chataim she’anu chayavim aleihem arba misos beis din”. (Shulchan Aruch and Mishne Berurah 607,3)
2) One may not speak in the middle of the viduy, and not in the middle of “Al Cheit”. However, one may respond to Kaddish or Kedushah. This means that even in the middle of the main viduy (Ashamnu etc.) one must stop to respond to kaddish and kedushah. (ibid)
The Laws of Yom Kippur (3)
1) One who knows that he has committed a specific sin which is not explicitly mentioned in the viduy, should pronounce his sin with his mouth and say viduy about it with sorrowfulness of heart. If he has committed one of the sins specified in the standard version of the viduy, when he reaches that point he should feel very sorrowful. (Kitzur Shulchan Aruch 131)
2) The verse says “For the holiness pf Hashem is honored”, and we extrapolate from this verse that even on Yom Kippur where there is no eating and drinking, one must honor the day with fresh clothing and lighting candles. (ibid)
