Torah Ohr / Ch. 5 – 139

The parts of Torah that people don’t learn are like a ‘mes mitzva’, and these portions protest to the Creator that they are ignored. When someone then learns them, he finds tremendous favor in Hashem’s eyes. One can learn this from the laws of a ‘mes mitzva’, where an inanimate body is honored with burial even by a Kohen Gadol or a nazir, who are otherwise forbidden to become tamei even to their relatives, just because it once hosted a Jewish soul. All the more so for a section of the Torah that is being desecrated by being ignored, must we step forward and elevate it to its proper glory. If a person takes this to heart and fears for the honor of the Torah, he will surely be eternally honored by Hashem in the next world. Although in this world others don’t appreciate his knowledge, he will eventually be lauded accordingly.

“And the utterly undoubtable truth is that if the entire world, from one end to the other, would be absent of our engagement and delving into the Torah, even for one moment, literally, then all the worlds - both upper and lower - would be destroyed instantly, and would turn into utter chaos, chas v’shalom…” (Nefesh Hachaim)
