Toras Habayis / Ch. 4 – 13

There are four primary reasons why a person does not learn at home:

  1. He is unaware of his responsibility to learn whenever possible and sees nothing wrong with sitting idle.
  2. He has become accustomed to it for years and has difficulty changing his habits.
  3. He sees others slacking off and learns from them.
  4. He spends his time reading newspapers.

Each of these bad habits will be discussed at length.

“And the utterly undoubtable truth is that if the entire world, from one end to the other, would be absent of our engagement and delving into the Torah, even for one moment, literally, then all the worlds - both upper and lower - would be destroyed instantly, and would turn into utter chaos, chas v’shalom…” (Nefesh Hachaim)
