Laws Relating to Squeezing Fruit (90)

6.a. Lemon may be squeezed onto sugar even if one’s purpose is to put the juice-soaked sugar subsequently into water.

6.b. Some authorities take a stricter view and prohibit the squeezing of lemon onto sugar if indeed one intends to put it into water.

6.c. At all events, on Shabbath one should not put the sugar into water with a temperature of 45 degrees centigrade or more, unless the water is in a keli shelishi (as to which see Chapter 1, paragraphs 2, 53 and 57).
