Laws of Blessings – 50

1. A person who drank wine and therefore was not required to recite a separate blessing on other beverages, recites only the after-blessing of “for the vine” etc. and it exempts having to recite an after-blessing on the other beverages; i.e., the person will not be required to recite Borei Nefashos (“Who creates numerous living things”) (Shulchan Aruch and Mishnah Berurah208).

2. This rule applies only if the person was drinking the wine in a settled manner as in a feast] or if when the person recited the first-blessing on the wine the other beverages were present in front of him. But if it was neither of these scenarios and the person therefore was required to recite a separate She’hakol, then he must also recited the separate after-blessing of Borei nefashos(ibid.).
