The Laws of Prayer/“Offerings” (14)

1) When the temple is not standing, and we are unable to bring the offerings on the altar, one who occupies himself with the laws of the offerings and the relevant chapters in the Torah is considered as if he had brought them in the temple. It is because of this that we say the chapter which deals with the daily sacrifice and the baraisah which deals with the laws of the incense offering, every day. Some also say the chapter which discusses the arrangement of the woodpile on the altar. (Shulchan Aruch and Mishne Berurah 48)

2) For someone who knows how to learn, it is a good thing if he learns in the Gemarrah all of the explanations relevant to the aforementioned verses and laws so that he will understand what he says. (ibid)

The wise man says: I shall learn two halachot today, and two tomorrow, until I learn the entire Torah entirely… (Vayikra Rabba)
