WASHING DISHES
4.a. It is better to refrain from heating up water on Yom Tov for the purpose of washing dishes which became dirty before Yom Tov. (On Shabbath the heating up of water is nearly always forbidden by the rules in Chapter 1.)
4.b. Water may be heated on Yom Tov for the purpose of washing dishes which have become dirty on Yom Tov, provided they are required for use on the same day.
4.c. Nevertheless, if water could have been heated before Yom Tov, it is desirable to refrain from heating it on Yom Tov, even for dishes which become dirty that day.
4.d. It is also desirable that any water which will be required for sterilizing a baby’s bottle before each feeding be heated prior to the commencement of Yom Tov.
4.e. Water may be extracted from an electric boiler on Yom Tov, as explained in Chapter 2, paragraph 7.
