395. Longing (2)

There is no person who is entitled to say “And is it because of me that the redemption is being delayed?” or to say “And do I really have the power to bring the redemption closer even if I will be a perfectly righteous man? There are so many thousands of members of Klal Yisrael who are worse than me and if I would know that it is because of me that there is all of this pain, and it is because of me that the redemption is being delayed, I would have killed myself to learn and serve Hashem!”. All of this is just emptiness, as since the redemption of the Divine Presence which is that which we are requesting is dependent on each and every one of us, as the Zohar says explicitly that each sin that a person commits makes the yoke of the exile heavier and every good deed that a person does brings the redemption closer, it follows that every person should be always in a great state of trembling and long and look forward to the redemption and bring it forward in any way that he has the power to. This is especially true when the time for the redemption arrives that any one member of Klal Yisrael who does complete repentance can bring the redemption closer. This can be seen in that which Chazal said about the verse “Shuva Yisrael” that even one person who repents can bring the redemption and that is why this verse is said in the singular.

“My brothers and my nation, take this sefer Torah, and with this, and like this learn well, so that you should have it good; listen and enliven your soul, and achieve gladness and joy in this world and the world to come” (From the author’s intro.)
