Specific laws relating to the transfer of objects from one place to another on Yom Tov are dealt with in Chapter 19.

ARTICLES WHICH ARE WORN

7.a. A woman may go out into reshuth ha-rabbim wearing a scarf or wig over her hair.

7.b. She is also allowed to keep it on by means of a pin.

8.a. Furthermore a woman is allowed to go out into reshuth ha-rabbim with her hair kept in place by hairpins or a ribbon.

8.b. She should not, however, use more hairpins than are necessary to hold her hair.

9.a. One may go out into reshuth ha-rabbim wearing an article of clothing in the normal manner, even if it only serves the purpose of protecting the rest of one’s clothes from dust or rain.

9.b. 1) Something which is not worn as an article of clothing in the normal manner (for examples, see paragraph 10b below) should not be put on, unless it will serve the purpose of keeping one’s body clean or dry.

2) In that event, it does not matter that it will also incidentally protect one’s clothing.
