Chapter 20
Categories of Muktzeh
Laws specifically relating to muktzeh on Yom Tov are explained in Chapter 21.
MISCELLANEOUS CASES CONNECTED WITH MUKTZEH
81.a. A penknife sometimes has fixed attachments which may not be used on Shabbath, such as scissors or a nail-file.
81.b. Even if one is particular not to use these attachments for any other than their intended purpose, one may move the penknife in order to use its blade.
81.c. One must not, however, open those attachments that it is forbidden to use.
82.a. A key ring on which there also hangs a muktzeh object, such as a nail clipper, may be used on Shabbath, since additional objects on a key ring are merely of secondary importance.
82.b. Nonetheless, one would do well to separate the keys from the muktzeh object before Shabbath.
