Chapter 22
General Principles Relating to Muktzeh on Shabbath and Yom Tov
OBJECTS BECOMING MUKTZEH
AFTER THE COMMENCEMENT OF SHABBATH
8.a. An item which was fit to be used at the commencement of Shabbath, but during the course of Shabbath became muktzeh, may be moved once the reason for its being muktzeh has ceased to exist.
8.b. As a result, clothes which were dry at the commencement of Shabbath, but became wet (and muktzeh) during the course of Shabbath, may be moved once they have dried out again. (See Chapter 15, paragraphs 9 to 13 for restrictions on the drying of clothes.)
9.a. A table does not become a basis la-davar ha-assur merely
1) because a muktzeh object has fallen onto it on Shabbath or even
2) because one has mistakenly placed a muktzeh object on it on Shabbath, or a muktzeh object has been put there by a child or a non-Jew.
9.b. In such a case, should one need to use the place occupied by the muktzeh object, one may tilt the table to make the object drop off.
9.c. See further Chapter 20, paragraphs 47 and 53.
