Chapter 22
General Principles Relating to Muktzeh on Shabbath and Yom Tov
USING, TOUCHING AND MOVING OBJECTS WHICH ARE MUKTZEH
38.a. 1) One may take an article that is not muktzeh off an object which is muktzeh, even if this will cause the muktzeh object to move.
2) One may not, however, touch the muktzeh object itself if this will make it move, as explained in paragraph 32 above.
38.b. 1) One may put an article on a muktzeh object, even if this will cause the muktzeh object to move, so long as one does so for the purposes of something which is not muktzeh.
2) One must not put the article there for the purposes of the muktzeh object.
39. A further example of the rule stated in paragraph 35 above is that one is not permitted to push a muktzeh object with a broom or a similar article to a place where it will be secure until one can take it after Shabbath.
