General Principles of Muktzeh (536)

Chapter 22

General Principles Relating to Muktzeh on Shabbath and Yom Tov

ARTICLES WHICH NOT EVERYBODY WOULD USE
MUKTZEH OBJECTS BELONGING TO A NON-JEW

49. An item which is muktzeh because it was not prepared for use before Shabbath, and was not fit for use by a Jew when Shabbath commenced, is muktzeh,

a. even if it belongs to a non-Jew and

b. even if it is fit, or has become fit, for use by the non-Jew.

50. Consequently, the following items are all muktzeh:

a. milk which has been milked from the cow on Shabbath, even by a non-Jew for his own use;

b. fruit which fell off the tree on Shabbath, even if it belongs to a non-Jew;

c. fruit which was picked from the tree on Shabbath, even by a non-Jew for his own use;

d. stones and sand, even in the possession of a non-Jew. (See Chapter 20, paragraph 25.)
