How good it is to perform the commandments in the ideal way. This shows that one is performing the commandments through love. Chazal said about this that if a person would like to be “good” and to perform the commandments in an ideal way, he will not be “bad”, to perform them in a non-ideal way. We see that Chazal said that one who does not perform the commandments in an ideal way is called bad by Chazal.
A person should think about himself, about the way that he is concerned that his food and drink should be good and tasty, with pastry made from white flour, and good wine in beautiful utensils. He should consider the extent that he worries about his clothes and buys nice ones to look respectable. In all of the above he will not be willing to make do with the first thing that comes to hand. Instead, he searches for the best of everything. How much more so must we exert ourselves to do the will of our Creator, and to give Him pleasure in the best possible way. If he does not do this, it looks as if he does not worry about the honor of his Creator G-d forbid when he could create more pleasure for his Creator. It is therefore obvious that one should do one’s best to perform this in the best possible way.
