Housekeeping and Use of Domestic Facilities on Shabbath and Yom Tov.
HYGIENE
13.a. One is allowed to hang up cartons or other containers of a chemical material designed to act as an air freshener. (But see Chapter 9, paragraphs 1 to 6 and 12, for problems which may arise in opening or perforating such a carton or container on Shabbath or Yom Tov)
13.b. It is also permitted to use an air purifying spray.
13.c. With regard to spraying insecticides, see Chapter 25, paragraph 5.
14.a. One may put disinfectant or deodorant, either liquid or solid, into the flushing cistern or into the bowl of a toilet on Shabbath or Yom Tov, but
14.b. one should not use disinfectant or deodorant which colors the water.
14.c. Indeed, disinfectant or deodorant which colors the water should be removed from the cistern or bowl before Shabbath or Yom Tov begins.
14.d. The lid of a cistern which is held on by screws may be neither unscrewed nor screwed down on Shabbath or Yom Tov.
