Hilchos Pesach – 24 / The Seder Night

1. On the night of the Seder one is obligated to engage in the laws of Pesach and in the Exodus; to recite the miracles and wonder that the Holy One performed for our ancestors – until the person is overcome by sleep (Shulchan Aruch 481).

2. Some have the custom on this night to recite only the paragraph of kri’as Shema before going to sleep and not the other verses of protection that are ordinarily recited on the other nights of the year, since this night is Divinely protected from harmful agents (ibid.).
