A cantor who reads in the Torah is obligated to pay attention to be careful to read the Torah with all of its tunes and details in the correct way. He should not omit anything. Apart from the fact that it is an embarrassment for him if he errs, and it is prohibited, and sometimes his error will cause a change in meaning and maybe even he will be cursing Hashem or saying heretical things. It also leads to great damage on high according to the secrets of the matters. The cantor should be careful that his reading should be a faithful reading, which should blossom like a cedar in the Lebanon and like a rose.
A man who has been favored by Hashem with wisdom and knowledge should write a book, so that his water-springs should flow outwards and his lips will move in the grave. with this he will acquire a remembrance and a hand and name better than sons and daughters. Every wise man should act with knowledge to write a book which will be useful to the public, like books which explain the Gemmarah and the early commentators, and books of laws, or books which gather together facts on different topics, to help and give merit to the public. The merit of the public is dependent on him and on all those who help to print them, for without the books and the printers the Torah might, G-d forbid, have been forgotten.
