Chapter 25

Dangerous Nuisances and Hazards to Health

INSECTS AND OTHER PESTS

6.a. It is forbidden, on Shabbath or Yom Tov,

1) to set a trap to catch mice, rats and similar pests or poison

2 to put down poison in order to kill them.

6.b. One may set a trap or put down poison before the beginning of Shabbath or Yom Tov.

7. As explained in Chapter 22, paragraph 42, a dead mouse or rat which one finds on Shabbath in a place where it disturbs one may be removed and thrown out, despite the fact that it is maktzeh.
