Chapter 26

Plants and Trees

10.a. It is forbidden to pick fruit from a tree which attached to the ground, even if both the tree and its fruit have completely dried up.

10.b. One is not allowed to detach something which is growing, even if it has no roots, as in the case of

1) mushrooms or

2) moss growing on a boulder,

10.c. One is permitted to pick fruit off a branch that was detached from its connection with the ground prior to the commencement of Shabbath or Yom Tov.

11. One may touch a tree, but one may not move any part of it, since it is muktzeh.
