101 – Bestowing Kindness / Part II, Chapter Fourteen (d)

All that we have written, that one must invest all his energy into keeping special money for the sake of giving loans, is not directed only at wealthy people. Rather, every individual, in accord with his abilities, should endeavor to set aside a certain sum every month which should be designated for loaning. Even if a person only lends out a small sum to his friend to help with the Shabbos needs, he has already fulfilled the positive Scriptural mitzvah of When you shall lend money to My people etc. It makes no difference whether it is a lot or a little, as long as one does it for the sake of Heaven. How wonderful it would be if this matter would spread among our nation, the holy People, and everyone would keep this mitzvah with alacrity. Through that the entire world would become filled with the trait of Kindness and then all of the hardships and tribulations would cease from the world.

He has told you, O Man, what is good, and what Hashem asks of you; but to do justice, to love loving-kindness, and to walk discreetly with your G-d” (Micha 6:8)
