REMUNERATION FOR SERVICES RENDERED ON SHABBATH OR YOM TOV
50. The rules relating to the receipt of remuneration for services rendered on Yom Tov are identical, in all respects, with the rules relating to the receipt of remuneration for services rendered on Shabbath.
51.a. The prohibition against receiving remuneration for services rendered on Shabbath extends in principle
1) not only to a reward for the physical performance of work, but also
2) to rent due for a room or apartment (as to which see paragraphs 62 and 63 below) and
3) to charges for the hire of any object (as to which see paragraph 60 below).
51.b. It does not extend to the payment, after Shabbath, of a debt incurred on Shabbath, as, for example,
1) where one has taken food or drink, on Shabbath from a shopkeeper, in the circumstances set out in Chapter 29, paragraph 17, or
2) where one has taken medicines, on Shabbath, from a pharmacy, in the circumstances set out in Chapter 33, paragraph 4.
