1. If a person wants to add his own personal request (which is relevant to that particular blessing) in each intermediate blessing of the Amidah, he is allowed to do so. An example of this is someone who knows of an ill person for whom he wants to pray, he should do so in “Refa’ainu”. One who is in need of a livelihood, should request it in the blessing of “Bareich Aleinu”. In each case, he should first say the words of the beginning of the blessing and then add his personal request and not say his personal request first. (Shulchan Aruch and Mishne Berurah 115)
2. Some say that in these blessings one is not allowed to ask that in the future bad things should not happen to him, (e.g. that he should not become ill or that his livelihood should not decrease). According to this opinion one may only request for present problems. However, everyone agrees that in the blessing of “Shome’a Tefillah” which is a general request for everything and includes all requests, one may request whatever one wants, even for the future. (ibid)
