Chazal said, that if a person says “I have exerted myself and not found”, do not believe him. And if he says, “I have not exerted myself and have found”, do not believe him. A person was only created in this world so that he can benefit in the next world from his exertions. A person was born to work hard. Fortunate is the person whose work is in Torah and good deeds-to conquer his evil inclination, to fulfil all good things and to withdraw his hand from doing bad. In proportion to his work, exertion and effort, will his service create pleasure for his Creator, and in proportion to the pain, so too is the reward. A person was not created in this world to eat for his satisfaction or to enjoy himself with the pleasure of mankind. People were created to work hard and a lot; day and night he should not stop his work for the service of Hashem, in thought, speech and act.
