It is known that Hashem wishes that we should teach defense for Klal Yisrael, for the general public and the individual. The prophet Eliyahu may he be remembered for good, was punished because he said an accusation and said “I have surely become zealous on behalf of Hashem, the G-d of the hosts for the children of Yisrael have abandoned Your covenant!”. The prophet Yeshaya was also punished for having said “I am dwelling in the midst of a nation of impure lips!”. We find even more than this with our teacher Moshe, may he rest in peace, that he was punished for having said “And behold they will not trust me!”. On the other hand, Gid’on was rewarded for having defended Klal Yisrael, and because of this he merited to save Klal Yisrael, as it says “Go with this strength of yours and you will save Klal Yisrael!”. The reason for this is that anything that a man says makes an impression and arouses the heavenly hosts, and if he accuses it awakens the accusing angels, whereas if he defends it awakens the defending angels, and his words have an effect.
How much one must remind the public speakers and especially during the awesome days of judgment not to arouse judgment and not to arouse accusations to remind of the sins of the general public, G-d forbid. Instead, they should only mention what should be done and from what one should be careful, and the listener will hear.
