חיפוש בארכיון

352. Sustenance (3)

One who has merited that Hashem has given him an abundance of money should try and minimize his occupations and allow his work to be done by others while he occupies himself with the study of the Torah. He should not be a stingy money-loving person. Instead, he should be happy with his portion and he and his household members should enjoy the fruit of his work, while his flesh dwells in security and lives a life of pleasure. He should gather many merits for the souls of his father and mother and prepare spiritual pleasures for his soul by donating money to charity and performing acts of kindness according to the blessing of Hashem that He gave to him for this is his real portion from all of his work.

On the other hand, one who toils to become rich by stealing, tricking, deceit and falsehood, or by transgressing other prohibitions which come about when doing business, and he does not pray with a quorum not fix times to learn Torah, has made his actions bad and destroyed his source of livelihood as he will not see any sign of blessing from all of the toil that he has performed. Even if he will be temporarily successful, the verse says “One who makes wealth unjustifiably; it will abandon him halfway through his days and his end will be despicable!”. This is the way of the Satan that he causes a person to be temporarily successful through deceit and not fixing times to learn Torah in order to trick him into permanently becoming wicked. One who walks in the good path, Hashem will test and find the righteous as he might have temporary losses to test him and do good for him in the end.

“My brothers and my nation, take this sefer Torah, and with this, and like this learn well, so that you should have it good; listen and enliven your soul, and achieve gladness and joy in this world and the world to come” (From the author’s intro.)
